Helpers Information

We rely on volunteer helpers like you to make this camp happen!

Volunteer Roles

  • Buddies – our biggest need for volunteers at camp are people to support a camper for the weekend. This person is called your ‘Buddy’. For campers who need more assistance during the weekend, we might assign two helpers as their buddies. As a helper, you are at camp to support your ‘Buddy’ and help them have a great weekend!
  • Accommodation Leaders
  • Medical Team
  • Security Team
  • Audio Visual Team
  • General Hands Team
  • Cleaning Team

  • Auckland Helpers Seminar – our one-day training is held on a Saturday at the ELEVATE National Support Office in Onehunga in the lead up to National Camp. This is considered an introduction to volunteering with us with a variety of speakers and interactive sessions.
  • Online training – for the first time this year we are able to offer online training to our volunteers at National Camp. This is something you are able to complete in your own time
  • Friday night meeting – all new volunteers are required to be at our Friday night helpers meeting at … You will be introduced to the camp leaders, given key information about how camp runs and review what you need to know to assist your buddy.

Totara Springs is a fabulous camp with various types of rooms. These include cabins, motels, and lodges. Accommodation is assigned based on the needs of the camper. Where you sleep will depend on the camper you are ‘buddied’ with.

Police Check

First-time helpers and helpers who haven’t been to our national camp in the last four years are required to fill in a Police Check form

Camp Cost

As we are a charity, we rely entirely on camp fees and donations to make camp happen each year.  If the cost of attending camp is difficult for you perhaps you could approach friends and family to support you. Perhaps your church might allow you to run a fundraiser.
